Refuse and recycling collection in the City of Bowling Green is running on schedule today. As long as our equipment holds, there will be no delay in service today or tomorrow.
Windy conditions are blowing open lids and knocking over containers. Drivers are not permitted to get out of their trucks for safety reasons, and they are not permitted to dump containers if the lid is open because the plastic is so brittle from the extreme temperatures that it would cause damage to the container(s).
If refuse and recycling containers are not full this week, we’re recommending that residents do not set them out until next week when temperatures warm again. This will save a very cold walk to and from the curb and will help prevent blowing garbage in our neighborhoods.
We thank our residents for their patience as our team works through this weather to continue service! Stay warm!
