Tree Commission Seminar – October 20

The Bowling Green Tree Commission will be hosting a class on the “ABCs of Pruning Trees” on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Simpson Garden Park, 1291 Conneaut. The event is free to the public. The class will be held in the classroom and outside. Attendees will learn about proper pruning techniques and considerations for both young and mature trees. Part of the class will be spent outside as we prune several trees.

News from ODOT – I-75/Wooster St.

Beginning October 22 through November 5, the I-75 southbound ramp to Wooster St. will be closed (Exit 181).  An overnight bridge deck closure is scheduled to occur October 24 at 10:00 pm until October 25 at 5:00 am.  Both closures will have detour routes posted.

Pollinator Project Volunteer Opportunity at Solar Field

On October 23rd  at 9:00 am, volunteers will be gathering at the AMP DG Solar Site on Carter Road to plant 350 various types of flowering shrubs for the pollinator project.  These are the tallest of the pollinators being planted and are located outside the fence on the north side of the PV so as not to shade.

The holes will be pre-drilled for the 1 gallon to 3 gallon shrubs to be unloaded and set into the ground.  Work will continue on October 24th at a time to be determined.

Trick or Treat – Oct. 31

“Trick or Treat” night will be held on October 31 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in Bowling Green.  Citizens handing out treats should indicate participation by turning on porch lights.

Those driving during the evening of October 31 are asked to drive slowly and with caution, being mindful of the large number of pedestrians that evening.
