Upcoming Public Meetings:

  • Planning Commission is scheduled to meet June 1 at 7:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church St.
  • Human Relations Commission is scheduled to meet June 3 at 8:00 am in Council Chamber.

Memorial Day – May 30

  • Memorial Day Parade: The Memorial Day parade is scheduled for May 30 beginning at 10:30 am beginning at the US Post Office located on W. Washington St.  The route will affect traffic along the following roads – N. Main St to Court St for a brief stop at the Wood County Courthouse.  The parade will continue on Court St. to Thurstin Ave to Ridge St, ending at Oak Grove Cemetery.
  • Delayed Refuse Pick-Up: Refuse pick-up will be delayed one day during the week of May 30.  Refuse that is typically picked up on Monday, will be picked up on Tuesday and so on.  For additional information, visit the City’s website or call the Public Works Division at 419-354-6227.

Family Story Time

The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to the Children’s Garden at Simpson Garden Park on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.  Join local teachers who will share their love of reading and the outdoors.  Family Story time will start on June 2 and continue through August 11 – stories will begin at 6:30 pm.  This is a free drop-in program.

N. Prospect and N. Summit closures

Columbia Gas of Ohio has been authorized to close a portion of North Prospect from E. Evers to E. Merry on May 26 and May 27.  The closure is required for pavement restoration following the natural gas line replacement project.

The Bowling Green Sewer Division will be closing North Summit from Court St. to Pike St. from May 31 through June 3 in order to install a new sanitary sewer main line and manhole.  The intersection of N. Summit and Court St. will be closed May 31, with the intersection expected to re-open June 1.  N. Summit from Pike St. will be closed to through traffic throughout the project, allowing access to the Wood County Courthouse parking lot off of N. Summit St.

Both closures will be dependent on progress of work and weather.

Isolated Water Main Line Work

Isolated water main line work will be done within the next few weeks.  Affected residents of Pearl St, between Maple and Brigham, Knollwood Dr, from Ordway to the dead end, Hillcrest Dr, and Parkwood Dr will receive notice 1 week prior to work beginning, and a reminder the day before.  The work will require a 1 day shut-off of water service followed by a 72 hour boil order advisory.  Once the boil order is in effect, a water boil advisory door hanger will be placed at affected residences and information will be posted on the City’s website.  Traffic will be affected during this work.  Additional information will be posted once a date has been determined.
