Construction Update – Downtown Utility Project

The next phase of the water and sewer line installation will be focused on North Main, from Wooster to Oak St.  It is anticipated within the next few days, that contractor will begin work within the 100 block of North Main.  As a result, West Court St. will be closed to traffic from the entrance to City Parking Lot 4 to Main St.  It is anticipated that the contractor will close West Oak St, from the entrance to the Wood County Senior Center to Main St next week.  This closure will require the removal of on-street parking along West Oak.

The utility portion of this project is anticipated to last through the spring of 2019. Once complete, a contractor will repave the downtown.

Questions about this may be directed to the Engineering Division at 419-354-6227.

As previously released, a private tree contractor has been authorized to close one of the southbound lanes of traffic on North Main at the corner of Wolfly Ave.  The closure is scheduled to occur from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and is required due to private tree work.  Additionally, Wolfly Ave, from Main to Grove, will be closed to through traffic during this work.  Residents will have access to their driveways throughout.

Dust Off-Tune Up-Slow Rolls Kickoff for 2019

Time to dust off your bike and gear up for warmer weather! The City of Bowling Green’s first slow roll bike ride for 2019, titled Dust Off-Tune Up, will be held Sunday, March 31st at 2pm.  This ride will be a shorter ride and will feature stops at the BGSU Bike Garage and CycleWerks to provide guidance on proper bike maintenance and tips on quick repairs like how to fix a flat, complete a bike safety inspection, and more!  This ride will begin and end at Ridge Park.

Rides are free, family-friendly, and open to everyone. Each rider is required to wear a properly-fitted helmet and ride a correctly-sized bicycle in safe, working mechanical order.  It is highly recommended that young riders, who are still learning to ride, participate via a tow behind trailer or child bike seat.  These rides are meant to be more recreational in nature and will travel at a speed comfortable for all riders.

While designed for fun and exploration, monthly rides will also stress the importance of safe riding practices and responsibilities of riders while navigating city streets.  Multiple trained leaders will facilitate the ride to ensure that all riders complete the route, including providing assistance for mechanical or personal issues that may arise.

To register for monthly rides, please visit www.bgohio.org/bike-bg/ or call 419-354-6222.
