Upcoming Public Meeting:

  • Planning Commission is scheduled to meet July 5 at 7:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church St.

4th of July – Fireworks and Refuse/Recycling Collection

Fireworks –  The annual community fireworks will be held Monday, July 3 at dusk at the Bowling Green State University Intramural Fields.  Prior to the fireworks display, the Bowling Green Area Community Bands will perform a free patriotic-themed concert near the BGSU Mileti Alumni Center beginning at 8:00 pm.

Those attending the fireworks should be aware that no sparklers or fireworks will be allowed.  The Doyt Perry Stadium will not be accessible with the exception of the restrooms.  Following the event, the Bowling Green Police Division will implement a traffic exit strategy to aid in traffic flow.  In order to maximize safety and efficiency of travel, the Police will be directing traffic onto predetermined routes.

Refuse/Recycling Collection – Collection during the week of July 3 will be altered in observance of the 4th of July holiday.  Refuse and recycling collection on Monday, July 3, will occur as normal.  Collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week – normal Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday; normal Wednesday collection will occur on Thursday; normal Thursday collection will occur on Friday.

Classics on Main Car Show – July 8

In conjunction with the Annual Classics on Main Auto Show, sponsored by The Sentinel-Tribune, certain street closings and parking restrictions will be imposed in the downtown on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Main Street, between Clay and Pearl, will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 5:00 am on Saturday, July 8.  While Main Street is closed, no through traffic will be permitted on Washington, Clough, Court, and Oak Streets.  However, Wooster Street will remain open for east and westbound traffic throughout the day.

During the closure, detour routes for local and truck traffic will be posted.

All on-street parking will be prohibited in the closure area.  Additionally, on-street parking will not be allowed on Clay Street from Main to North Grove Street.  City Parking Lot 6, located to the north of the Senior Center, will be closed during the event.

All streets will reopen, and on-street parking will be reinstated, as soon as possible following the event completion.

The Classics on Main event takes place from noon to 4:00 pm.
