News from BG: June 22, 2016

Upcoming Public Meetings:

  • Board of Public Utilities is scheduled to meet June 27 at 5:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church St.
  • Parks and Recreation Board is scheduled to meet June 28 at 7:00 pm in the Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave.

Parking Kiosk information display

The City has begun the preliminary work associated with the repaving of City Parking Lot 2, which will occur in July.  As part of that project, parking kiosks  will be installed to replace the parking meters.  On June 28 in the Four Corners Center, 130 S. Main St., information displays will be set up for the public to view.  Additionally, staff from Downtown BG and the City will be available for questions at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 6:00 pm. The public is encouraged to stop by and learn about this change to parking.

Lunch in the Park

The June 24 Lunch in the Park will feature food for purchase by Qdoba as well as musical entertainment by Tapestry performing on harp and guitar.  Join title sponsor First Federal Bank and lunch sponsor United Way in Wood County at the park for this fun family event!

4th of July Holiday

  • Refuse and Recycling – Collection will be delayed one day the entire week of July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
  • Fireworks – The annual fireworks display will occur on July 3 beginning at dusk.  Fireworks will be fired from the BGSU Intramural Fields.  Traffic will be affected following the display along Mercer Rd, E. Wooster St., Clough St., and Napoleon Rd.  For more information regarding the fireworks and traffic changes please visit the City’s website.

Concert in the Park

The Concert in the Park series continues this week on June 26 with a performance by Kerry Patrick Clark & Band – Folk & Original.  The performance will take place on the stage of Needle Hall in City Park beginning at 7:00 pm.

Coffee with a Cop

The Bowling Green Police Division in partnership with the Bowling Green State University Police Department will conduct the second Coffee with a Cop on June 29 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Biggby Coffee, 215 E. Wooster St.  Join officers to ask questions, voice concerns, or discuss ways they may better serve our community.

Classics on Main

Classics on Main car show will occur on July 9 from noon until 4:00 pm in downtown. The car show will take place along Main St., from Clay to Washington, with Main St. being closed to traffic.  City parking lot 6, located next to the Senior Center, will also be closed.  Join the event organizer, The Sentinel-Tribune, for a FREE family event in downtown!
