BG Winterfest 2019
In conjunction with BG Winterfest on February 8-10, minor traffic impacts will likely occur. On February 9, beginning approximately at 10:00 am, Clough Street between South Main and the entrance to City Parking Lot 2 will be closed to traffic. This closure will last until approximately 11:00 pm. Access to Lot 2 will remain. On-street parking on Clough St, from Main to Lot 2, will be prohibited during the closure.
Also part of the event is a carriage ride. The route for the carriage is as follows – pick-up and drop-off at the Four Corners Center (130 S. Main St.), the carriage will proceed south on Main St, east on Washington St, north on Church St, east on Court St, and south again on Main St to the Four Corners Center.
Construction Update – Main St. Utility Project
Construction crews began the next phase of the downtown utility improvements on February 4. This week’s work will focus on Main St, between Ordway and Washington. Traffic will be maintained on Main Street but will be diverted to the west side of the street, so crews can perform the tie-in to the existing water line. After this work is complete, installation of the new water line will begin at Ordway Ave. and continue north on Main Street through the Lehman Ave. intersection
Once the water line tie-in is complete, crews plan to install two crossovers (from the east side of Main to the west side). It is anticipated that this work will occur on or near February 11 and is scheduled to take place overnight to minimize traffic issues. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Main Street during the crossover installation. However, Ordway Ave. and Lehman Ave. will be closed during this time. After the crossover piping is installed, the new water line will continue on the west side of Main Street and all traffic will be diverted to the east side of the street. Please be mindful of intermittent lane closures and changes as this work progresses.
As released this past December, the construction within the downtown area will continue into much of 2019. This work includes replacing and repairing the water and sewer lines on Main Street from Oak Street to Ordway Ave and Wooster Street from Church Street to Prospect Street. The utility portion of this project is anticipated to last through the spring. Once complete, a contractor will repave the downtown area.
The schedule outlined above is dependent on weather conditions and progress of work.
