Community Action Plan
The first community meeting for the Community Action Plan is scheduled on August 30 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Crim Elementary, 1020 Scott Hamilton Dr. The Community Action Plan will advance goals from the City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update by identifying city-wide neighborhood improvements.

Modern Woodmen of America Hometown Hero Award
The Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club has selected Officer Robin Short of the Bowling Green Police Division for the first Hometown Hero Award. Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club in a service organization for youth in the Bowling Green area. Volunteerism, patriotism, education and fun are the foundation of Modern Woodmen’s youth service clubs. Since 1942, these clubs have improved the self-esteem of participating children through helping others.
Officer Short was selected for her outstanding work with area youth, most notably D.A.R.E. and Safety Town. Join the Modern Woodmen of America this Friday, August 26 at the BGHS Football game to recognize Officer Short while cheering on our Bobcats! The award will be presented between the 3rd and 4th quarter.
City Pool & Water Park hours
The Bowling Green City Pool & Water Park is still open for business on weekends through Labor Day. The hours of operation are Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 12:00 – 8:45 pm. The Pool’s final day open will be Labor Day – Monday, September 5. Please check out the Park’s webpage for resident and nonresident admission rates and for more information on the facility.

Gypsy Lane/S. Main St. – Update
Work continues to progress on West Gypsy Lane with curb and shoulder work being completed this week. Pavement milling and resurfacing will follow. East Gypsy Lane has been fine graded and concrete flat work is being completed. The surface course of asphalt will be placed at the same time as West Gypsy paving. Lane restrictions will continue through the next several weeks.
Bowling Green Fall Soccer Challenge
The Valentis Athletica BG Soccer Challenge is scheduled for August 27-28. The tournament will have games on the campus of BGSU as well as at the fields off of Research Drive near Meijer. As a result, increased traffic around campus near the football stadium and on Dunbridge Road near Meijer can be expected.

Boy Scout Soaring Eagle Half Marathon and 5k Run
The Boy Scouts annual half marathon and 5k run will take place in Bowling Green on September 3. The run will begin at 7:30 am from the Wood County Fairgrounds. The route will be as follows:
- West on Poe Rd
- North on Haskins Rd
- East on W. Newton Rd.
- South on Fairview Ave.
- East on Poe Rd.
- South on Main St.
- West on Sand Ridge Rd to the Slippery Elm Trail
- Exit the Slippery Elm Trail onto W. Gypsy Lane Rd.
- West onto Sand Ridge Rd.
- North on Wintergarden Rd.
- West on Pine Valley Dr. through the Stone Ridge subdivision exiting onto Mitchell Rd.
- North on Mitchell Rd.
- East on Conneaut Ave.
- North on Fairview Ave.
- West on Poe Rd.
- North on Village Dr. through the Village subdivision exiting into the Fairgrounds
While runners are present on each road, traffic will be affected and traffic patterns may be altered.
