News from BG: August 16, 2017

Upcoming Public Meetings:

  • City Council Committee-of-the-Whole is scheduled to meet August 21 at 6:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church St. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the planned implementation of the refuse/recycling fee.  A public hearing is scheduled to begin at 6:45 pm to discuss ordinance 8614 regarding proposed zoning code changes to allow for vocation training within a M-3 Business Park and S-4 Planned Business Park.  City Council’s regularly scheduled business meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
  • Parks and Recreation Board is scheduled to meet August 22 at 7:00 pm in the Veteran’s Building – North, located at City Park.

You’re Invited!

Come view the concept plan for the new building in City Park! On Tuesday, August 22, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm the public is welcome to view the concept plans for the planned new building within City Park.  The plans will be on display in the Veteran’s Building – South, with a presentation by Schorr Architects at 6:00 pm.  The concept plans will be on display at the Community Center from 8/23 to 9/6.

Fall Soccer Challenge

The Valentis Athletica BG Soccer Challenge is scheduled to occur on August 26-27.  The tournament will have games on the campus of BGSU as well as at the fields off of Research Drive near Meijer.  As a result, increased traffic around campus near the football stadium and on Dunbridge Road near Meijer can be expected.

BGSU Move-In: August 17

The Fall semester of BGSU is fast approaching.  Residents should expect increased traffic around campus.  Early move-in begins August 16 and first year students will  begin arriving on August 17.  Because of this and to help with traffic flow, N. Mercer Rd, from Poe Rd to Wooster, will be closed to traffic from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on August 17.
