State of the City
The State of the City address will be presented tomorrow, April 28, at the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St. The doors will open at 7:30 am for refreshments and the program will begin at 8:00 am. The scheduled speakers include Mayor Richard Edwards, President of City Council Michael Aspacher, Municipal Administrator Lori Tretter, Utilities Director Brian O’Connell, Bowling Green Economic Development Executive Director Sue Clark, and BGSU Vice President for Finance and Administration Sheri Stoll. The program is scheduled to last one hour, ending at 9:00 am. The Morning Show, 88.1 FM, will be broadcasting the program live. The event is sponsored by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green Economic Development, City Administration, Biggby Coffee, Frontier Communications, and the Wood County District Public Library.
Paving Project Update
Milling and paving is in full effect across different parts of the City. The milling portion of the current roadway projects has been completed. Paving is underway on Williams, Biddle, Clough, and S. Prospect. By the end of the week, paving is projected to be complete on Charles, Lyn, Newton, and Van Camp. Questions about these projects may be directed to the Engineering Division at 419-354-6227.
Columbia Gas of Ohio – Natural Gas Line Replacement update
Columbia Gas has been authorized to close portions of East Reed to through traffic, between North Main and North Enterprise, during the week of April 25. The closures are necessary for the installation of natural gas service lines as part of the 2016 natural gas line replacements. During these closures, no parking will be allowed in posted areas from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Questions may be directed to Columbia Gas of Ohio or the Engineering Division at 419-354-6227.
News from ODOT – US Route 6
Through June, the US-6 ramp from southbound I-75 to eastbound US 6 is closed. Detour: westbound US 6; SR 25. Through June, US 6, between SR 25 and Dunbridge Road, is reduced to one lane in each direction. Lane widths are restricted to 11ft in this work zone. Work complete: June. All work is weather permitting.
As part of the City’s urban forestry program, trees located in the right-of-way will again be trimmed back to ensure our urban forest remains healthy and safe. Crews have begun this process for the 2016 tree maintenance. The City has contracted with Nelson Tree Service for this work.
