The Human Relations Commission and Mayor Richard Edwards will present the Honor Roll award to the Bowling Green Middle School Builder’s Club at the City Council meeting on April 18. City Council will meet at 7:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church St.
The Builder’s Club is a service organization for middle school students and is a part of the Kiwanis group of service organizations. The 25 member club meets monthly and has developed projects to help the Bowling Green area community. The members of Builder’s Club volunteer their time inside and outside the school day. Recent activities include a food drive for the local food pantry, a sock drive for Hannah’s socks, and a Valentine’s Day candy gram fundraiser for the animal shelter. They have also participated in Kiwanis activities by helping with pancake breakfasts, marching in the Bowling Green holiday parade, and serving as bell ringers for the Salvation Army. Builder’s Club is led by student officers Nico Calderon, Haili Bradley, and Makayla Dingledine and is advised by BGMS teachers Laura Johns and Rob Morgan, as well as Cathy Wenig, the Kiwanis liaison for Builder’s Club.
