Efficiency Smart Energy Conservation Program

The City’s Efficiency Smart Program helps customers lower their electric bill through energy efficiency and guides them to savings through financial incentives and expert advice.  Residents along with business and industrial customers have derived benefits from this innovative and helpful program.  Since 2011, Efficiency Smart has partnered with the City to provide energy efficiency services to more than 100 Bowling Green businesses and institutions, saving more than 29 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy and more than $2,228,000 in annual electric costs, expecting to save nearly $32.5 million in electric costs over the lifetime of the energy-saving products that were installed.

Residents:  Residents can benefit from product rebates, the online product store, the appliance recycling program, and the meter loan program.  The Electric Bill Advice program can also help Bowling Green Municipal Utilities’ residential electric customers learn more about their electric use and the steps they can take to reduce it.
