City of Bowling Green Application Process

The City of Bowling Green is an equal opportunity employer. The City only accepts applications when a specific vacancy is to be filled or when a Civil Service examination has been scheduled. The application must be completed and returned to the Personnel Department by the deadline established in the advertisement. Water Distribution Equipment Operator

Water Distribution/Wastewater Collection Division
(BGEO Pay Band 5: $21.43 – $27.38 per hour)

Hourly position responsible for maintaining and repairing waterlines, valves, hydrants and service lines. Makes pressurized taps on mains; bores lines; installs, repairs, and flushes hydrants; locates/lays waterlines; installs meters; repairs breaks; operates backhoes, dump trucks, and other equipment; repairs black top and concrete; maintains vehicles/equipment; exercises valves; locates leaks. Work performed outdoors in wet environment in prevailing weather conditions. High school diploma or equivalent; Class “A” CDL (with Tanker Endorsement) required; forklift certification; Class I OEPA Water Certification required within two years of hire; one to three years of relevant experience. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Water Pollution Control Division
(Pay Grade 5 -: $21.43 – $27.38 per hour)
(WITH A CLASS III OEPA CERT: Grade 6: $22.51 – $28.74)

Hourly position responsible for oversight of the operation of the wastewater treatment plant, ensuring effluent quality and proper/efficient plant operation. Oversees plant operations; checks equipment; performs lab tests; monitors plant via computer and plant walk-through rounds; performs maintenance duties; operates trucks and other equipment; removes Biosolids (hauls sludge); collects samples; attends training; prepares /maintains documentation; performs custodial tasks and other related duties as assigned. Works both indoors & outdoors; works alone; irregular work schedules; must be available to work shift work, weekends, and holidays. High school diploma or equivalent; Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Wastewater Treatment Certifications preferred; valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License required or must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire; must obtain a Class I OEPA Wastewater Treatment Certification within two (2) years of hire; and 3 – 5 years of relevant experience. PROGRAMMER / PROGRAM SUPERVISOR Fall Programs

 $8.55 to $9.65 per hour

The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an individual to join the fall programming staff and work with youth girls and boys ages 3 ½ through 14. The position will require flexible availability both mornings and afternoons with mainly weekend and some evening assignments. The hours for this temporary position will average 6-10 per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, organizing and teaching/coaching multiple sport and recreational activities; and scorekeeping and officiating. Background in basketball and volleyball helpful; and a genuine interest in working with youth is needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with training or practical experience in working with youth, and must have the ability to relate to and motivate young children. Applicants must have a reliable source of transportation.

The City of Bowling Green’s Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified, dependable individuals for its summer part-time seasonal maintenance staff. Pay range $8.55- $11.25 per hour, no fringe benefits.   Must be able to work flexible schedule up to 40 hours per week for the full term of the temporary employment including evening and weekends. Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Experience with building custodial, grounds, aquatic facility, small tractor and/or softball field maintenance beneficial. INFORMATION REGARDING HIRING ENTRY-LEVEL POLICE OFFICER & FIREFIGHTER/EMT/EMT-I/PARAMEDIC

The City of Bowling Green is not accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic at this time.

The City is not accepting applications for Police Officer at this time.

  • Police Officer –  Age requirement for Police Officer  shall be in accordance with Section 124.41 of the Ohio Revised Code. Credit for military service shall be in accordance with Section 7.01 of the City’s Charter.
  • Firefighter/EMT/EMT-I/Paramedic –  Age requirement for Firefighter/EMT/EMT-I/Paramedic shall be in accordance with Section 124.42 of the Ohio Revised Code.   Credit for military service shall be in accordance with Section 7.01 of the City’s Charter.
