Youth Flag Football

Location: Bowling Green Community Center Athletic Fields

Youth Flag Football Flyer

Dates: 4/5/19 – 5/24/19
Times: 4:30PM – 6:00PM
Ages: 8 – 12 years
Cost (Res/NRes): $45/$54

This is an 8 week program, on Fridays, for both boys and girls ages 8-12, which will introduce the game of flag football. This program is skills & scrimmage based where participants will learn both rules and terminology of flag football, also including fundamentals from various activities and friendly scrimmages at the end of each practice. All participants will receive a special NFL Flag jersey with their favorite NFL team of choice and their own personal flag belt. Once the program is completed, participants will also receive a certificate of achievement signed by both Roger Goodell and Scott Hallenbeck. Its suggested that participants bring both indoor and outdoor shoes.

 

 

D-League Soccer (Spring)

Location: Dunbridge Soccer Fields

D-League Flyer

Developmental league to be managed by the Bowling Green Soccer Club.   Participants will learn from current division one college players and coaches and have fun in the process!  Program length is seven weeks.  Practices will begin on 4/1/19 and games will begin on 4/6/19.  All practices and games will be held at Dunbridge Field.  3 and 4 year olds practice Mondays 5:30-6:15PM and games will be on Saturdays at 9AM.    5 and 6 year olds practice Mondays 6:35-7:30PM and games will be on Saturdays at 10:15AM.  7 through 9 year olds practice Mondays 5:30PM-6:30PM and games will be on Saturdays at 9AM.  10 through 14 year olds practice Mondays 6:35-7:45PM and games will be on Saturdays at 10:15AM.  Volunteers are also welcome to be involved as coaches/assistants during games and practices. Players are required to wear shin guards and bring their own soccer ball to practices and games.  Cost includes t-shirt.

Youth T-Ball

 

Youth T-ball program for children ages 5-6 (must be 5 by 5/14/19).  Each participant will receive a cap and t-shirt.    Participants must bring their own ball glove.   Other equipment is provided, however participants may be allowed to bring their own Tball bats and helmets (if approved).  Practices leading up to games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at either 5PM or later beginning May 13th.  Practices will be 45 minutes long.  T-ball games will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays (at 5:15 or 6pm start times) beginning June 4th.  Times are subject to change based on the number of teams. Games are subject to rainouts and makeup games will be scheduled for the week of July 22nd.  Volunteer coaches are needed. Any volunteer coaches must attend the coaches meeting  on Wednesday, May 1st at 6PM, located at the Bowling Green Community Center (Classroom A).  Coaches are asked to complete and application and pass background checks prior to coaching.

 

Youth Softball

 

Youth Softball program for children ages 7-12 (must be of age by 5/14/19) will consist of machine pitch.  Each participant will receive a cap and t-shirt.  Participants must bring their own ball glove.  Other equipment is provided, however participants may be allowed to bring their own youth bats and helmet with a mask (if approved). Practices leading up to games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5PM or later beginning May 13th.  Additional skills training and batting practice will be provided for participants throughout the season (see flyer for more details).  Softball games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at either 5PM or later (subject to change based on the number of teams) beginning June 3rd.  Games are subject to rainouts and makeup games will be scheduled for the week of July 23rd .  Volunteer coaches are needed. Any volunteer coaches must attend the coaches meeting  on Wednesday, May 1st,  at 6PM, located at the Bowling Green Community Center (Classroom A).  Coaches are asked to complete an application and pass background checks prior to coaching.

Lacrosse Skills Clinic & Skills Builder Plus

Location: Bowling Green Community Center Athletic Fields

 

Boys and girls will participate once a week in this introductory lacrosse program.  This program will introduce the game of lacrosse to participants in ages 7-12 through fun activities and games.  Players will be taught rules, terminology and basic fundamentals of the game (how to scoop, toss, catch and cradle).  Participants are asked to bring outdoor tennis shoes and a water bottle.   Starter sticks and other equipment are provided or participants may bring their own.  Program will be instructed by BGSU men’s club lacrosse players.

*Skills Builder Plus*

The Youth Lacrosse Skill Builder Plus will consist of meeting twice per week (Sundays and Tuesdays).  The skill builder plus program will focus on the fundamentals and also extra skills/scrimmaging concepts using helmets, gloves and sticks.  Participants must purchase their own equipment (girls will not need to purchase a helmet).   Players will be taught rules, terminology and basic fundamentals of the game (how to scoop, toss, catch and cradle).  Program will be instructed by  BGSU men’s club lacrosse players and BGHS boys lacrosse.  Program dates are (five)Tuesdays, April 9-May 14th and (four) Sundays- April 28th- May 19th.  Tuesday programming runs from 6-7PM and Sunday programming runs from 1-2:30PM.

 

Start Smart T-Ball

Location: Bowling Green Community Center

Developmentally appropriate introductory program for children ages three to five years old that prepares them for organized T-Ball/Baseball in a fun, non-threatening environment.  This program prepares children and their parents for organized T-ball/baseball programs without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.  Parents and children work one-on-one during this six week class.  Children will receive a Start Smart Tball Shirt.  The program will be held at the Bowling Green Community Center.  Weather permitting, some programming may be held outdoors.  (1245 W. Newton Road).   A facilitator will be on hand.
