BMX Camp

Location: BG Skatepark in City Park
Ages: 5 & older

Bowling Green Parks and Recreation is proud to be able to offer quality BMX Camps this summer to kids ages five and up interested in BMX skatepark riding! From beginner to advanced skill sets all who attend will benefit from the program. Instructors will be teaching the basics of stance, balance and bike control all the way up to technical tricks such as bunny hopping, 180’s and 360’s. The focus is always on safety which will be discussed before every class. BMX Camps are a great way for bikers of all levels to get the experience and motivation to pursue BMX riding. Participants need to bring their own bike, helmet and water bottle highly recommended!  Camp is scheduled Monday – Thursday with Friday reserved as a make up day for weather cancellation if needed!

 

Basketball

Location: Bowling Green Community Center

This basketball camp is perfect for all skill levels and basketball lovers!  The camp will feature fun skill games, challenges and basketball fundamentals!  Hoop heights and basketball sizes will be adjusted to fit participants’ needs.

Triple Threat Basketball

This new basketball camp will focus on working towards becoming the complete basketball player.  This camp will feature skill instruction, competitions, scrimmaging, and team building!  Players will work at all of the tools to help improve their game.  The camp will also feature guest appearances from coaches and former basketball players.  The camp is for participants ages 7-12.  Participants will be split into separate age groups.  Camp t-shirt included.

Bowling

Location: Al Mar Lanes
Ages: 6-14

Want to get out of the heat? The Al Mar staff will once again be offering their expertise and facility for this program. Receive some bowling instruction and pointers and get to bowl some games in the a/c. Cost includes shoe rental.

 

Multi-Sport Camp

Location: Bowling Green Community Center & Athletic Fields
Ages: 5-12

Come out to the air conditioned Community Center and have some fun learning and practicing various sports.  Participants will be exposed to the fundamental skills and rules of basketball, baseball/softball, hockey/lacroose, rugby, and soccer.  Age and skill levels will be sorted into different groups whenever possible.

 

Golf

Location: Bowling Green Community Center
Ages: 5-7

Come out to the Bowling Green Community Center for this 3 day golf camp where children ages 5-9 can work on the fundamentals of golf.  All skill levels are welcome.  This camp features the use of SNAG golf equipment designed specifically for introducing people to golf.  Due to the design of the SNAG equipment it gives success earlier. Participants may also bring their own clubs.  Participants will work on skills challenges and golf swing techniques to help improve their golf game.
PGA Professional Lindy Bastel Powers will lead the program.

 

Golf

Location: Stone Ridge Golf Club
Ages: 8-13

Come out to the Stone Ridge Golf Club for this 1 day golf clinic to learn or review your swing fundamentals.  Also learn more opportunities for Junior Golf!  All skill levels are welcome.  Participants may also bring their own clubs.  This is a great way to get way to get started for some summer golf fun!

Annual Andy Open

Baseball/Softball Camp 2019

Location: City Park: Eli Joyce Ball Diamond
Ages: 7-12

Participants will work on fundamentals of the game and various challenges tied into game-like scenarios for baseball/softball players.  Players will need to bring their own ball glove (bats and helmets are optional).

 

Volleyball

Location: Community Center Gym
Ages: 7-12

Come out to the air conditioned Community Center and have some fun learning and practicing volleyball fundamentals. Participants will be exposed to the fundamental skills and rules of volleyball but will also get a chance to play and have fun. Age and skill levels will be sorted into different groups whenever possible.

 

Skateboard Camps

Location: Skatepark in City Park
Ages: 5 & older

Skateboarding Camps are a great way for skaters of all ages and levels to get the experience and the motivation to pursue skateboarding. This course will be an instructional class and overview of basic skills that skaters need. Participants will learn skate park etiquette, proper board set up, correct stance and board control. Participants need to bring their own skateboard, helmet and water bottle highly recommended!  Camp is scheduled Monday – Thursday with Friday reserved as a make up day for weather cancellation if needed!

 

Tennis Clinic

Location: Bowling Green High School Tennis Courts
Ages: 4-12

The Bowling Green Community Tennis Association will hold a tennis skills camp through for children ages 4-12.  This United States Tennis Association Camp will cover the fundamentals of tennis as well as develop game competition skills relating to the sport.  Low compression tennis balls are used for this camp.  Participants who register by Friday, June 1st will receive a t-shirt and a racquet from the USTA.  The Bowling Green Community Tennis Association will lead the clinic.  For more information visit: bowlinggreenohtennis.com

 

Soccer Camp

Ages: 5 – 12

Participants will be exposed to the fundamental skills and rules of soccer but will also get a chance to play and have fun.  Age and skill levels will be sorted into different groups whenever possible.

 

Scooter Skate Park Camp

Location: Skate Park City Park

Bowling Green Parks and Rec is proud to offer quality Scooter camps and lessons for kids of all ages interested in Scooter Skate Park riding. From Beginner to Advanced skill sets all who attend will benefit from our program. We cater to all ages 5yrs and up. Teaching the basics of stance, balance and Scooter control all the way up to technical tricks such as Barspins, 180 & 360’s, Manuals and Tail whips. We always focus on safety and will be discussing it before every class.  Scooter Park camps a great way for riders of all ages and levels to get the experience and motivation to pursue scooter riding.  Participants need to bring their own scooter helmet and water bottle highly recommended! Camp is scheduled Monday – Thursday with Friday reserved as a make up day for weather cancellation if needed!

Stephen Cramer Basketball Two Day Camps

Location: Bowling Green Community Center

Shooting Camp

Dates: 6/12 – 6/13
Grades: 5-12
Times: 9:00AM – 4:00PM

We will educate players about the Keys to Shooting and the Common Shooting Errors most players make.  Covering the basics from shooting the basketball from the fingertips on the follow through to the shooting stance and proper body motion.  From there we add on shooting progressions and ultimately game situations shots.

The two day, 6 hour camp is an extensive and detailed progression from form shooting into game shot situations.  We will cover various types of game shooting situations and how players can use the footwork to improve shooting the basketball for an efficiency and quickness standpoint.  With an 18 player maximum and 3-4 coaches per shooting camp this camp is perfect to give your player, son or daughter the individual instruction they need to improve their game!  Register at http://cramerbasketball.com

 

Attack & Perimeter Camp

Teaching players how to play above their athletic ability is essential for success at higher levels.  As a former pro and college shooting guard and point guard, Cramer will teach each player many of the skills he has picked up over an extensive playing career and many techniques, moves, and drills that he wishes he would have known much sooner.  Cramer will break down a variety of attach situations essential for any player that consistently handles the basketball in games.  We will also be covering game decision making on and off the ball from screening, cutting, and running the floor.  Players will be put in various scrimmaging situations to the apply their new skills.  Whether you are a point guard, shooting guard or stretch post trying to expand your game this camp is perfect.  For serious players only!

Shooting & Finishing Camp

Dates: 8/5 – 8/7
Grades: 5-12
Times: 8:00AM – 4:30PM

This camp combines two of the most important skills in the game, finishing around the basket and shooting the basketball. Players that do NOT have the ability to shoot and finish around the rim often see less playing time. The players who can shoot and finish on a regular basis find themselves regarded as some of the best players in their conference. This camp is highly recommended for players of all positions on the court.
This camp provides a detailed breakdown of key finishes for players of all levels. Intermediate level players will find many of these moves useful and advanced players will add additional finishing moves and concepts to their game. Players will perform many individual and group situations to improve their finishing and shooting skills.
