Civil Service Commission

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission is a three-member commission tasked with ensuring City compliance with Civil Service rules and regulations.   Click here to access the Employment Opportunities page.  The Commission is responsible for administering entry-level and promotional examinations for ranked positions with the Police and Fire Division. The Commission also approves job descriptions and classifications for inclusion in the City’s class plan. The Commission is also responsible for holding hearings relating to disciplinary actions relating to classified personnel. BG Civil Service Commission Meeting – January 18, 2019

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission will meet at 10:00 a.m. January 18, 2019. The meeting will be held in the Police Division Training Room, located in the Police Division, 175 W Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio. The purpose of the meeting is to administer a promotional examination for Police Lieutenant, review and recommend changes to Civil Service Rules, take all actions necessary to establish eligibility and certified lists, establish passing examination score(s), accept requests to waive out of hiring processes, and/or certify names of candidates deemed eligible for consideration for hire or promotion to classified positions. Action will be taken to establish a new slate of officers for 2019. Action will also be taken, as necessary, to modify, add, or abolish job descriptions, and to establish classified positions and/or schedule and/or establish the requirements for or types of hiring or promotional examinations.
