100% Renewable Energy Program
· Nature’s Energy® electricity is a 100% renewable energy product now available to City of Bowling Green electric customers. Nature’s Energy replaces the present Bowling GREEN Prower Program. Existing customers of the Bowling GREEN Power Program will be switched to the Nature’s Energy Program at the same participation level.

 

Product – Nature’s Energy®
· Nature’s Energy® electricity is a 100 percent renewable energy product consisting of a combination of wind, landfill gas and hydroelectric.

 

Customer Benefits
· By signing up for the City of Bowling Green’s “green pricing” program, a customer using 750 kWh per month can avoid 8,500 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the air each year. That’s as much CO2 as a car produces driving 10,000 miles.

· By participating in the program and choosing renewable energy, customers help stimulate demand for new renewable facilities.
· A portion of the extra cost will be used to support local renewable energy projects or purchases of additional energy from sustainable resources.

 

Pricing
· Residential customers pay a small amount more each month to join the program and help change the way power is made. The extra cost is 1.5 cents per kWh, about $8-$10 per month for the average residential customer.
· Commercial customers can purchase the green power in one-megawatt-hour blocks to meet all or part of their electric demand. The blocks cost an additional $15 each.

 

Availability
· Nature’s Energy® electricity is available immediately to all City of Bowling Green electric customers.

 

Sign-up and Billing
· Customers can sign up for Nature’s Energy® electricity immediately by calling Bowling Green Municipal Utilities at (419) 354-6246 or by using our convenient signup form located at the bottom of this page.
· Customers can easily sign up and will continue to be billed by Bowling Green Municipal Utilities as usual. The “green pricing” program will appear as a line item on the monthly bill.
