FITNESS PHILOSOPHY

F    I believe that we are constantly “cooking” our identities. I believe in adding what’s valuable and taking away what’s not.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
I became interested in fitness via yoga. I began studying yoga in high school, and became a certified Level 1 instructor through YogaFit® in 2003. I’ve been teaching weekly yoga classes ever since in Rochester, NY and Bowling Green, OH. In early 2004 I decided to study a more authentic branch of yoga. Under the guidance of Francois Raoult of the BKS Iyengar lineage at the Open Sky Yoga Center in Rochester, I became a certified Basic Yoga Teacher Trainer in 2005, and am currently enrolled in the Advanced Yoga Teacher Training® course. I began working at the BGCC in September of 2006 and became a Certified Fitness Trainer through AFAA in 2007.

In addition to yoga and fitness, I am also a classical singer. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, and am currently pursuing my Master of Music degree from BGSU. I am especially interested in the relationship between yoga and the voice.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

I enjoy many kinds of music, but mostly classical, jazz and world music. I’m especially interested in the traditional music of India. I also love to dance. No one would call me a pro, but I can follow pretty well! Salsa and Swing are my favorites. I’m a morning person and a health nut and I love to grow fresh veggies and herbs in my garden.
