Special Trash Pick-Up Starts May 5
DISTRICT I - MONDAY, MAY 5TH
DISTRICT II - TUESDAY, MAY 6th
DISTRICT III - WEDNESDAY, MAY 7TH
DISTRICT IV - THURSDAY, MAY 8TH
DISTRICT V - FRIDAY, MAY 9TH
The heavy trash pickup is conducted to pick up furniture, appliances, bedding, and similar household items which are too heavy, or of such composition or configuration, that they cannot be handled by the refuse trucks. REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS, AIR CONDITIONERS AND DEHUMIDIFIERS WILL NO LONGER BE PICKED UP BY CITY REFUSE CREWS.
Items are to be placed at curb before 7:00 AM on the day of the regular trash pick up. (ITEMS MAY BE PLACED CURBSIDE NOT EARLIER THAN 5:00 PM THE DAY PRIOR TO PICK UP.) Items should be placed curbside along with items for the weekly trash collection, since the heavy pick up will coincide with the regular trash pick up for each district.
As with the City's normal residential trash pick up, the Heavy Trash Collection is only for 1 and 2 family residential units and is not for those places presently served by private trash haulers.
By law, the City is not authorized to pick up building materials, construction or demolition refuse, sod, and rocks. Property owners may take these items to the Wood County Landfill, 5 miles west of Bowling Green on Route No. 6 to Tontogany Road, then 2 mile north on Tontogany Road. The landfill operates from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, six days a week and charges a fee.
