B.G. Transit’s Transit Advisory Committee Adopts Revised Vehicle Safety Program

The B.G. Transit’s Transit Advisory Committee (TAC) adopted a revised Vehicle Safety Program at their recent quarterly meeting held on February 19.  Most of these revisions have been incorporated as a result of a new vehicle maintenance schedule and associated processes recently provided for inclusion by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT.)   The safety program sets forth the policies, procedures and requirements to be followed by the B.G. Transit in order to provide a safe environment for B.G. Transit personnel and the general public.  The original safety program was adopted in July 2006.  The next TAC meeting is scheduled for May 20, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 304 N. Church Street, Bowling Green.

The B.G. Transit is Bowling Green’s public transportation system; providing handicap accessible service within the corporation limits of the city.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  The general fare (one way) is $3.50.  Reduced fares are available to persons aged 65 years or older, children (4-13 years of age) and those with disabilities.  For more information on how to receive reduced fares, please contact (419) 354-6203.  When scheduling a ride call 1-800-579-4299.  Persons with speech and/or hearing impairments may make contact through the Ohio Relay Network at 1-800-750-0750.  To learn more about the B.G. Transit, check out our website:  www.bgohio.org/grants/transportation.html.

The B.G. Transit is funded, in part, through the City of Bowling Green and an operating grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
