BG Income Tax Forms Mailed

 

 

BOWLING GREEN— Bowling Green income tax forms for all individuals and businesses on record have been mailed according to Cheryl Layman, Tax Commissioner.

 

The general rule is that, unless residents have full withholding by a Bowling Green Employer, a Bowling Green Tax return is due.

 

For all Bowling Green residents who work and pay tax to another city, Bowling Green allows a credit of 50% of the lower rate between the city of employment and Bowling Green.

 

The tax rate for 2007 returns remains 1.92%.  The Tax Commissioner reminds taxpayers that the due date for both returns and estimates is April 15, 2008.

 

Where a tax balance is expected for 2008, a taxpayer must file an estimate and pay one-fourth of the tax by April 15 and quarterly thereafter.

 

Unless a written extension request is received by April 15, late fees will begin whether or not tax is due.  Late fees include a penalty of 50 cents per late business day plus interest of 1 1/2% per month.

 

Taxpayers can pay income taxes or estimated taxes by credit card.  Information regarding credit card payments is available online at www.bgohio.org or by calling (419) 354-6288.

 

Assistance and information are available without charge at the tax office in the City Administrative Services Building, 304 North Church Street (lower level), or by calling (419) 354-6288 on weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

 

Basic federal, state, and school tax forms are also available at the Bowling Green Tax Office.
