Upcoming Public Meetings:

  • Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled to meet May 10 at 7:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church St.
  • City Council Committee of the Whole is scheduled to meet May 15 at 6:00 pm in Council Chamber.  The purpose of the meeting is to continue examining general fund revenue options.  City Council’s regularly scheduled business meeting will begin at 7:00 pm.
  • Tree Commission is scheduled to meet May 16 at 4:00 pm in Council Chamber.
  • Bicycle Safety Commission is scheduled to meet May 16 at 6:00 pm in Council Chamber.

Conneaut Ave. water main line replacement – update

On Saturday, May 13, beginning at 8:00 am, Conneaut from Lafayette to Tamarac will be closed to through traffic in order to make service connections and other related work.  Weather and progression of work dependent, Conneaut from Tamarac to Wintergarden may also be closed on Saturday for work.

Beginning Monday, May 15, Conneaut from Lafayette to Beech will be closed to through traffic.  Day closures in this area are planned to last until Friday, May 19.  Following this work, isolated boil advisories will be issued.  Affected residents will receive information before this occurs, and may check the boil advisory status on the Utilities webpage.

Stroke Awareness and Basketball Celebration Event – May 13

Join the Parks & Recreation Department for Antrone “Juice” Moore’s Stroke Awareness and Basketball Celebration Event on Saturday, May 13 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Bowling Green Community Center, 1245 W. Newton Road.  Antrone is a stroke survivor with a huge heart looking to give back to the community through his love of  basketball.  Wood County Hospital will be in attendance to provide health screenings beginning at 10:00 am along with Juice’s youth  basketball skills clinic.

Youth participants who plan to attend the basketball clinic should contact eric.fletcher@bgohio.org.  Come watch “Juice” and his guest celebrities as they promote Stroke Awareness Month through his celebrity basketball game at 11:30 am.

Roundabout Public Meeting – May 16

On May 16 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Stroh Center, a public meeting has been scheduled by the Ohio Department of Transportation.  The meeting will be an open house format to present information about the planned installation of roundabouts at I-75/Wooster Street.  The project highlights include a multi-use path across I-75 as well as the roundabouts.  Residents may ask questions, seek clarification on the project, and get a better idea about the scope and timeline of this project.

Ride of Silence – May 17

Join We Are Traffic and the Bicycle Safety Commission for a silent bike ride to raise awareness about bicycle safety on May 17 at 6:30 pm.  The ride will begin at 7:00 pm and will be slow-paced, meaning 12 MPH max, covering 8 miles starting and ending in City Park off of Conneaut Avenue.  The Bowling Green Police Division and BGSU Police Department will provide an escort during the ride.  Helmets are required.

Solar Field Ribbon Cutting – May 20

Join Bowling Green Municipal Utilities, the Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green Economic Development, American Municipal Power (AMP), and NextERA Energy for a community ribbon cutting on May 20 at 11:00 am.  The solar field, which is the largest in the state, is located at 16520 Carter Rd, located at the corner of Carter Road and Galier Road roughly half a mile northeast of Bowling Green.
