Upcoming Public Meetings:

  • City Council is scheduled to meet July 18 at 7:00 pm in Council Chamber, 304 N. Church.
  • Tree Commission is scheduled to meet July 19 at 4:00 pm in Council Chamber.

Gypsy Lane Rd/Main Street work

The City of Bowling Green has contracted with Geddis Paving and Excavating for the construction of intersection improvements at South Main and Gypsy Lane.  The work will include:

  1. The addition of a left turn lane for westbound Gypsy Lane
  2. New signal poles, mast arms and signals
  3. New LED edge lit street name signs
  4. New pedestrian crossings, signals and countdown timers

Work is scheduled to begin on July 18 and is expected to last eight weeks, weather permitting.  East Gypsy Lane, at S. Main, will be closed to thru traffic for 21 calendar days beginning July 18, with the detour route using Klotz Road and Napoleon Road.  Intermittent lane closures are possible on South Main Street throughout the project, but through traffic will be maintained at all times.

Movie in the Park

The City of Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Department along with Park It Family Fun Nights will be hosting a free family event in City Park on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.  The event will include live music, youth and family activities, giveaways and more.  The live music will begin at about 6:30 pm on the Needle Hall stage and the movie “Minions” will begin at approximately 8:20 pm.

Lunch in the Park

The Lunch in the Park series continues July 15 with food for sale by Call of the Canyon Cafe.  The musical entertainment will be provided by Gene Parker Trio!  The bands will begin to play and food will be available from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Concert in the Park

The July 17 concert in the park will feature Swingmania – Big Band/Swing!  The concert will begin at 7:00 pm from the stage of Needle Hall in City Park.

News from ODOT

U.S. Route 6: Pavement Reconstruction and Bridge Work – Through August, the ramp from southbound I-75 to eastbound US 6 is closed.  Detour: westbound US 6; SR 25.  Through August, US 6, between SR 25 and Dunbridge Road, is reduced to one lane in each direction.  Lane widths are restricted to 11ft in this work zone.  Work complete: August.  All work is weather permitting.

Columbia Gas of Ohio – Home Energy Audit

Bowling Green has been selected as a qualified area to participate in the Neighborhood Home Energy Audit program in partnership with Columbia Gas of Ohio. Bowling Green customers will have the opportunity to lower natural gas usage (30% or greater reduction possible), reduce carbon footprint as well as enjoy a more comfortable, quieter home.

All single family homes who are residential gas heating customers are pre-approved for a Home Energy Audit for only $20 (a $500 value). Bowling Green customers are only responsible for the first $300 of recommended, qualified insulation and air sealing improvements and are eligible to receive $1,000 off a high efficiency gas furnace or boiler if recommended during their audit*. Residents may receive a free programmable thermostat and high-performance, energy efficient shower heads where appropriate.

City Parking Lot 2 – update

Work in City Parking Lot 2 is continuing this week requiring a complete closure of the lot for the remainder of the project.  Shelly Company has milled a large portion of the lot and repaving is expected to begin within the next 24 hours.  The pavement portion of the work is expected to last to the end of this week.  Following this work, the entire parking lot will require treatment and striping.  It is anticipated that the lot will re-open by the end of next week – Friday, July 22.
