New Year Observance

In observance of New Year’s Day, non-24 hour City facilities will be closed on Monday, January 1.  As a result, all refuse and recycling collection will be delayed by one day.  Regular Monday collection will occur on Tuesday, regular Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday, and so on.

Safe Communities of Wood County is offering FREE rides home anywhere in Bowling Green on New Year’s Eve.  The service will be available from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am.  Simply call 419-823-7765 and get home safely for FREE!

Parks and Recreation Youth Programs

Youth Basketball League Registration Deadline Approaching
Bowling Green Parks and Recreation’s Youth Basketball Winter League registration deadline is December 31st.  The league is for children in Kindergarten (or age 5) through 6th grade.  Divisions consist of K(5), 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade (boys/girls separate) and 5th and 6th grade( boys/girls separate).  Dates for the program run the week of January 8th- February 12th.  Program costs are $38 for residents and $47 for non-residents for participants in the K-4 grades (includes a league shirt).  For 5th and 6th grade participants, costs are $58(Res) and $67(NR) or $71(Res) and $80(NR) for the Bonus Pack (includes additional basketball skills training).  5th and 6th grade participants will also receive a reversible jersey.  Registration, practice/skills

After School Dodgeball Program begins January 4th!
Friday after school dodgeball returns to the Bowling Green Community Center, Friday, January 5th  for children in grades 3-8.  This six week program will run on Fridays from 3:45- 5:15pm.  Teams, consisting of 3rd -5th  graders and 6th-8th graders, will be randomly assorted every week.  The cost for one six week session (1/5 – 2/9) is $33 for BG City residents and $42 for non-residents.  A weekly drop in rate of $7 may be considered if numbers permit. A supervisor will be on hand to officiate and supervise all participants.  Soft, gator-skin dodgeballs will be used.  The deadline to register is 1/3/17.
