General Information

The B.G. Transit is Bowling Green’s public transportation system and it is open for use by everyone!

Many people think B.G. Transit is a “taxi.” It is not.

Many people think B.G. Transit is a “taxi”, but it isn't. It is a demand response public transit system that operates more like a bus service whose route is determined by scheduled rides. Because we are considered demand response we will do the best that we can to accommodate “last minute” reservations. If, however, you don’t schedule your trip at least one hour in advance, you will be able to ride on a space-available basis only.

B.G. Transit is one of only a few public transportation systems in the State of Ohio, funded through grant money, which does not require 24-hour advanced reservations.

Funding is provided, in part, through the City of Bowling Green and an operating grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Since our system is grant funded, we must follow the service mandates established by ODOT and the FTA.

Transit service is limited to the corporation limits of Bowling Green.

The service is curb-to-curb. Drivers may not go beyond the curb or enter any building while assisting passengers.

Drivers are not responsible for loading or unloading any packages/items into the vehicle.

All B.G. Transit vehicles are accessible to persons with disabilities.

Fares and Hours of Operation

B.G. Transit fares, hours of operation and a helpful Riders Guide may be found here:   B.G. Transit System Brochure

Alternative formats of this brochure may be obtained at the City Administrative Services Building, 304 N. Church St., Bowling Green, OH 43402

Schedule A Ride

To schedule a ride, call 1-800-579-4299 or call the Ohio Relay Network at 1-800-750-0750 at least one hour in advance of the time you want to be picked up. When you call the 800 number you may hear a recording. Stay on the line until your call is answered. Calls for rides are answered in the order that they are received. If you hang up before the order-taker answers, you lose your place in the lineup.
