Administrative Secretary City of Bowling Green  Planning Department
(Pay Band 2: $19.14 to $25.43 per hour)

This hourly, non-exempt position is responsible for providing overall administrative assistance and support to the Planning Department. Performs research; provides responsible administrative assistance; oversees the day-to-day operations of the department; assembles/prepares/composes agendas and meeting packets, public hearing notices, meeting minutes, correspondence; spreadsheets; documents. Attends Planning Commission meetings; interacts with City staff and the general public; deals with sensitive and confidential matters. Provides technical information regarding zoning regulations, zoning review processes, and assists with permit applications; processes applications (most frequently for zoning); reviews for completeness, collects fees, mails or sends electronically permit applications upon approval, and maintains records of permit activity and zoning-related reports; maintains departmental files; Must have ability to use spreadsheet, database, word processing and selected job-specific software (examples: Word, Excel, Access). Work is typically performed in an office setting and is subject to pressure from deadlines. Must be able to work overtime. Two year associate degree or equivalent; three to five years progressive experience including senior level administrative and clerical support in a zoning and/or planning enforcement related field; valid Ohio Driver’s License; or any combination of education, training and work experience which provides the required skill sets to perform the essential functions of the job. School Police and/or Substitute School Police Adult Crossing Guards (Pay $11.65 per crossing worked, Not to Exceed $34.95 per day)

The City of Bowling Green is accepting applications for “School Police” (Adult Crossing Guards). Candidates for the one regular “School Police” vacancy must be available to cover the crossing at Haskins Road and Conneaut Avenue from 8:15 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and also from 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year. Candidates for “Substitute School Police” must be available to work at any of the City’s designated school crossings given short notice. Information about the crossings will be provided with the application. These are part-time, temporary positions without fringe benefits, except for membership in OPERS. The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Dept is seeking motivated outgoing individuals to be a part of the Community Center Fitness and Kiwanis Kids Club team as Programmers working as Fitness Desk Representatives, Kiwanis Kids Club Staff and Special Programmers working as Certified Personal Trainers! The responsibilities of these positions include greeting patrons, assisting patrons with exercise, caring for children, cleaning fitness equipment, ensuring rules are being followed, and providing first class customer service. These positions are part-time temporary positions staffed through a temporary agency with no fringe benefits. Individuals hired are not city employees. Seeking to staff part-time temporary attendant(s) to assist patrons of the BG Training & Community Center. Previous customer service experience in a community center setting preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and obtain CPR/First Aid certification within three months. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Employment will be through a temporary staffing agency. Individuals will not be employees of the City.
