FULL-TIME AND NON-TEMPORARY PART-TIME POSITIONS

Substation Technician

Electric Division

City of Bowling Green, Ohio

(BGMEA Contract:  $36.97 to $44.02 per hour)

 

Full time hourly position responsible for the inspection, testing, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of high, medium and low voltage Power System components from 69kv to 480v, including, 2 winding power transformers, L.T.C’s, potential and current transformers, oil and Sf6 circuit breakers, circuit switchers, GOAB’s, station batteries, and other equipment necessary for power delivery. Additional responsibilities include power restoration, planning and installation of substation control house components. Two-year college certificate or equivalent; three to five years of relevant experience; valid Ohio Driver’s License. A job description is available by clicking here.

In addition to the completed City of Bowling Green Application for Employment, you must include a brief written statement answering the following questions regarding power systems:

  1. While performing an acceptance/commissioning test on a “NEW” 69kv Sf6 breaker, the contact resistance for B phase reads 30% higher than A phase and C phase. After hearing and performing the manufacturer’s recommendations, if the test value is still high, what additional steps could you take to correct the reading “BEFORE” a major disassembly of the breaker?
  2. If you notice the motor current readings of a “Remote Breaker Racking” device have increased while inserting or removing 15kv vacuum circuit breakers, what areas of the switchgear cubicles and breakers would you focus your attention on?
  3. A 15kv switchgear with a “CLOSED MAIN, OPEN TIE, CLOSED MAIN” configuration must have one transformer taken out of service. Briefly describe what steps would you take to remove one transformer from service with no customer outages.
  4. A recent Substation Transformer” D.G.A.” analysis has indicated an sharp increase in Carbon Monoxide gas but no significant change in other gases. What is a major cause of Carbon Monoxide production in transformers? What would your recommendation be for the continued use of this transformer?
  5.  While inspecting a substation, you notice a breaker control panel” RED LIGHT” is not lit. After testing the bulb and visually confirming the Breaker is “CLOSED,” what would be your next troubleshooting step(s)? What type of drawing(s) would you use?
  6.  In #5 above, explain the other critical function that the ” RED LIGHT ” performs.

The City of Bowling Green’s Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified, dependable individuals to monitor park areas, buildings, restrooms and athletic fields. Pay Range $8.15 to $10.00 per hour, no fringe benefits. Responsible for opening and closing facilities for rentals and answering renter questions about the facility at the time of check in.

Must be able to work a varied schedule including weekends. PROGRAMMER / PROGRAM SUPERVISOR – SPORTS

 $8.15 to $9.25 per hour

The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a mature, career minded individual to serve as a Programmer or Program Supervisor – Sports.  The job will consist mostly of an evenings and weekends schedule.
Responsibilities include supervising all winter youth sports including our basketball, dodgeball, start smart sport programs; youth after school programs; adult volleyball/basketball leagues and other duties as assigned by Sports Specialist.  Employee will be expected to work between 5-10 hours per week.   Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with experience in the recreation or sports management field; have demonstrated an ability to organize and supervise people of diverse backgrounds and interests; possess excellent written and oral skills; be computer literate; have demonstrated the sensitivity and ability to work within a public agency, and be willing to attend (at our cost) and be certified in Red Cross First Aid/CPR.  Successful applicant will present a positive, pleasant image to the public.  It is desired that applicant either possess or be working towards a degree in recreation, sport management, or related field.

The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Dept is seeking motivated outgoing individuals to be a part of the Community Center Fitness and Kiwanis Kids Club team as Programmers working as Fitness Desk Representatives, Kiwanis Kids Club Staff and Special Programmers working as Certified Personal Trainers! The responsibilities of these positions include greeting patrons, assisting patrons with exercise, caring for children, cleaning fitness equipment, ensuring rules are being followed, and providing first class customer service. Responsible for Community Center gym monitoring, light custodial maintenance, set up and tear down in Community Center gym. Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience in “gym culture” helpful. Must be able to work under general supervision and have ability to lift 50 pounds. Must hold valid Ohio driver’s license and have First Aid and CPR certifications. Varied schedule including nights and weekends required.
