Ages: 0 - 4.5

Location: Scout Building in City Park

 

Children love music. By focusing their natural inclination, Musikgarten classes help children develop a love of music and the skills to play it through a series of activity filled, age appropriate lessons. Classes are held at the Scout Building in City Park on Wednesdays and instructed by Susan West. Parents come learn more about the program at an introductory meeting held on Wednesday, February 1 at the same time the class will be at the Scout Building. Program fee includes a Family Packet: CD, Parent Book, Rhythm Sticks, Rattle and Scarf in a Cloth Bag. For more detailed information call Susan at The Studio Connection, 419-353-4176.

Ready, Set, Run! Is a character-building running program that trains kids ages 8-13 to participate in a 5k run. This curriculum-based program equips kids with the physical training and goal setting mentality needed to accomplish their running goals. Issues like enhancing confidence and self-esteem, respecting authority, dealing with peer pressure and fueling their bodies through proper nutrition are covered during the 12 week session. Above all kids have a blast seeing what they are capable of achieving!

 

 

 

Super Suppers presents Love Bugs & Hugs

Ages: 4-13

Location: Community Center Kitchen

Date: Wednesday, February 15

Get your children in the kitchen and making window pane heart cookies, puppy love hot dogs and Valentine's Day themed drink.  They will make friends and food, while learning the importance of cleanliness in food preperation.  Parents of children ages 4-7 please bring a step stool and plan to stay with your child to assist; it's a fantastic bonding experience!

Pint Size Prom

Ages: 5 and under

Location: Veterans Building in City Park

Date: Saturday, March 10th

Time: 4:00-5:15pm

This is an event for those five and under and their parent/guardian; a prom for the little ones.  Put on your best outfit and head over to City Park for dancing, snacks, kids' interactive music, games and stroller valet parking.  You will receive a souvenir photo and frame, and the kids will get a goody bag to take home.

 

 

 

 

 

Youth Sports

After School Futsal

Ages: 7-14

Location: Community Center

 

This eight week program will run on Tuesdays (for ages 7-10) and Thursdays (for ages 11-14) from 4:00-5:30pm. The Futsal program will focus on the development of soccer foot skills through various drills and fun games. Bowling Green Soccer Club will provide coaches and supervision for all participants. Participants will be split into appropriate age groups. Indoor low bounce futsal balls will be provided for participants. Participants must wear clean tennis shoes. Outdoor soccer balls, soccer cleats or indoor turf shoes are not permitted.

* The 11-14 age group did not have enough participants to have the program run - but we are taking an interest list. If you are between the ages of 11 to 14 please have your parents put your name on this list.*


Dodgeball

Ages: 8-12

Location: Bowling Green Community Center

 

This six week program will run on Fridays from 3:45- 5:15pm.  Teams, consisting of 3rd-6th graders, will be randomly assorted every week.  A weekly drop in rate of $5 may be considered if numbers permit. A supervisor will be on hand to officiate and supervise all participants.  Soft, gator-skin dodgeballs will be used.  There will not be any Dodgeball on November 11th (Veteran's Day) or November 25th (Thanksgiving break).

 

 

 

Soccer Saturdays

Ages: 3-5

Location: Veterans Building in City Park

 

Soccer Saturdays are full of soccer scrimmages with very minimal drills. Children ages 3-5 will participate in pick up games in an indoor setting on Saturday mornings for ten weeks. Children participating should have shown an interest in kicking balls and be in good physical condition. Children are asked to wear a clean pair of tennis shoes or indoor soccer shoes (no cleats). Soccer balls will be provided.

 

Start Smart Basketball

Ages: 3-5

Location: Veterans Building in City Park

 

Developmentally appropriate introductory program for children three to five years old that prepares them for organized basketball in a fun, non-threatening environment.  This program prepares children and their parents for organized basketball programs without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.  Parents and children work one-on-one during this six week class.  A facilitator will be on hand. 

 

 

5th & 6th Grade Boys Basketball League

Location: Community Center

 

This youth basketball league for 5th and 6th grade boys school based teams.  League will consist of round robin play and a single elimination tournament.  Officials fees are paid $15 per game for each team (cash payment only).  OHSAA Officials are used for this league.  Game format will consist of 6 minute quarters.  Registration is available at the Community Center.  Please contact Eric Fletcher at efletcher@bgohio.org for more information.

 

 

Tennis Clinics

Ages: 4-8

The Bowling Green Community Tennis Association will hold an introductory tennis skills clinic for children ages 4 through 8. This 5 week clinic will cover the fundamentals of tennis as well as develop motor skills relating to the sport. Foam tennis balls will be used and free loaner rackets are available. The Bowling Green Community Tennis Association will lead the clinic.

Ages 4-5 will be meeting at the 6:00-6:45pm time/session. Parents and children work one-on-one during this five week class with the help of lead instructors.

Ages 6-8 will be meeting at the 7:00-7:45pm time/session.

 

 

 

4th - 6th Grade Volleyball League

Ages: 9-13 (must be in 4th - 6th grade)

Location: Community Center

Section # 504115-02

Fee: $45 Residents / $53 Non-Residents ($5 late fee after 2/28)

This eleven week program will consist of Tuesday practices and Saturday games (mostly morning games). Practices will begin the week of March 6th (4,5,6 or 7PM practices) and games will begin on March 24th. Program is for children in grades 4-6. A pre-season skills clinic is available for those who sign up on or before the day of the clinics.

Clinic dates and times: Feb. 21st and Feb. 28th, 6:30-7:30PM for ages 9 and 10, and 7:30-8:30 for ages 11 and 12).

Volunteer Coaches are needed for this program. Coaches are trained through the NYSCA program at the Bowling Green Community Center in classroom A/B (coaches are asked to attend one of two dates: February, 29th or March 1st from 6-8pm). Trainer volleyballs will be used in this program. Players are required to bring knee pads and a clean pair of tennis shoes. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. There are no games Easter weekend (April 7th). $5 late fee will be assessed after the 2/28/2011 registration deadline.

 

 

 

 

Little Dribblers - Soccer Skills Clinic

Ages: 5-7

Location: Veterans Building in City Park

 

Calling all future World Cup stars - let's work on some fundamentals inside while we wait for spring soccer leagues to begin.  We will do fun drills, games and mini scrimmages all to reinforce soccer fundamentals.  Participants need to have gone through our Start Smart program or participated in a soccer league so that they are at least familiar and comfortable with soccer basics.  All they need is a pair of gym or indoor soccer shoes and shinguards. There is a water fountain available but a water bottle would be a good idea!

 

 

 

Start Smart Baseball

Ages: 3-5

Location: Veterans Building in City Park

This program prepares children and their parents for organized baseball programs without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.
