The cable television commission is responsible for the development and service of cable television in the city, with particular responsibility for the review of proposed cable television contracts with providers of said service, and makes recommendations to city council with respect to any contracts associated with cable franchises.

The commission has seven members. One member is appointed from the city council (a member of the public utilities committee) and the municipal administrator also services on the commission. The other five members are appointed by the mayor to serve four-year terms.
