The City of Bowling Green will be celebrating Arbor Day on Friday, May 5th at Crim Elementary, 1020 Scott Hamilton Avenue, between 1:30 and 2:30 PM. During the event, a proclamation will be presented by Mayor Edwards and 5th grade students from Crim Elementary will display posters of their “Favorite Tree in Bowling Green”. The Bowling Green Tree Commission will give awards to the students creating the top posters with the winning posters being displayed at the school and at the City Building. Students will also help plant a honeylocust tree on the school’s grounds.
Bowling Green has a history of strong commitment to its trees. The City has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for 37 years. Additionally, BG has received the Growth Award 22 times for enhancing its tree program which is the most in Ohio.
